Tadamon Crowdfunding Academy selected 30 Kazakhstani NGOs to teach fundraising skills

April 22, 2021

Tadamon Crowdfunding Academy is part of the "IsDB - ISFD NGO Empowerment for Poverty Reduction Program”, which is sponsored by the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD), managed by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and other strategic partners. The mission of the program is to provide visibility to civil society organizations’ (NGOs, development start-ups, social entrepreneurs) projects and activities, support them to have better access to alternative finance, and connect them to other potential partners, donors, and supporters.

Between April 10 and May 8, 2021, for the first time, Kazakhstan organizations will take part in the Tadamon Crowdfunding Academy, where national and global experts in crowdfunding, copywriting, design, and social media will help organizations get funded, gain greater visibility and connections to donors, partners and beneficiaries.

"The Tadamon Academy provides up-to-date knowledge in a convenient and supportive form. We are grateful for the opportunity to be among the first NGOs to gain access to the academy," says one of the program participants, Sabira Kulchimbayeva, Director of the Satti Yerkemay Private Foundation.

A total of 74 Kazakhstani NGOs dealing with various issues, including environment, poverty eradication, gender equality, human rights, and many others, submitted applications.  Out of them, 30 projects were selected that presented projects in the following areas:

"We had a huge response to the Open call for project proposals. There are fantastic range of ideas submitted for big and small projects across Kazakhstan. We are pleased to see many interesting project ideas that got a chance to participate in the training program - Tadamon Crowdfunding Academy. Through interactive materials and working with crowdfunding experts, organizations will gain a deeper understanding of crowdfunding by giving them the mentoring and tools to launch their own crowdfunding campaigns." - said Robert Pasicko, UNDP Project Coordinator for IsDB-ISFD NGO Empowerment Program

“Tadamon is a unique program that makes us remember the ancient Kazakh tradition ‘Asar’ and use it in the interests of social projects and the development of civil society”, says Aziza Utegenova, CEO and founder of the Kazakhstan crowdfunding platform starttime.kz., and the project speaker.

Upon successful completion of the training program, all participants will be able to launch their crowdfunding campaigns on both local and international crowdfunding platforms.
