International Model UN Online conference

12 August 2020, Almaty - Today Afghan women studying in Kazakhstan within the project “Supporting the Economic Empowerment of Afghan Women through Education and Training in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan”, funded by the European Union, participated in an International Model United Nations Online conference.

The Conference was organized by Model UN-New Silk Road in Kazakhstan and Pamir International Model UN in Afghanistan. The event was designed to bring together young minds from different countries to share their opinions.

The event consisted of two committees to discuss the impact and challenges of COVID-19 Pandemic (WHO committee) and the cease-fire consequences during the pandemic (United Nations General Assembly).

50 delegates from Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Thailand, India, Philippines, and Indonesia have reproduced the activities of various UN agencies in real time and have accepted a resolution.

Models UN are student organizations that exist in many universities around the world. They play an important role in creating unique environment within academic establishments and contribute greatly to students’ experience. Annual conferences are open for participation by college and university students, high school students, young researchers and educators, and anyone with an interest in the UN. Model UN teaches leadership, diplomacy, and negotiations skills.
