Drawing contest dedicated to the International Snow Leopard Day

The International Snow Leopard Day is marked globally on the 23rd of October.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Committee of Forestry and Wildlife of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan with the financial support of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) are organizing the Drawing Contest "Kar barysyn saqtayyk!"("Let's save the snow leopard!") which will take place from 27 September to 23 October 2021.

We invite children and teenagers aged 7 -16 years old living in the East Kazakhstan region or in one of the snow leopard habitat areas across Kazakhstan to participate in the contest.

Application forms and the works should be submitted at e-mail snowleopard_contest@mail.ru by October 23, COB.

The drawings should depict a snow leopard, as a rare species of wildlife in its habitat. Participants can submit works in the genre of painting and graphics.

The jury of the contest will select the winners on 29 October, 2021 and the most interesting works will be awarded with diplomas and special prizes.

The contest is organized to draw public’s attention to the threat of extinction of the snow leopard and the need to take urgent and active measures to preserve its population.
