August 27, 2018 - a closing ceremony of the summer camp for youth from Aktobe and Karaganda regions took place at the Suleiman Demirel University. The camp was organized by UNDP with the support of the Ministry of Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and with the financial support of the Government of Japan.
The main objective of the camp was in building capacity of 50 young participants (18-20 years old). Within the period of seven days, the participants gained practical knowledge and upgraded skills in the following areas: UN Sustainable Development Goals, career development, self-assessment on future professional development, entrepreneurship, stress management and self-confidence, public speaking, digital literacy, and labor law.
The event was attended by UNDP Resident Representative in Kazakhstan Norimasa Shimomura, the President of the Suleiman Demirel University Meirbek Mazhitov, a Doctor of Sociology and a member of the Academy of Sociologists of Kazakhstan, and representatives of the Department for Youth Policy of Karaganda and Aktobe regions - Nursultan Yeleuov and Darkhan Zhienbaev.
"Young people is the engine of innovation, and many of you possess the necessary skills to achieve amazing results. Sometimes all is needed is to simply create the right conditions for young people. I would like to emphasize that this youth camp is not a single event, it's only the beginning of a series of initiatives that will bring significant changes to your future development and navigate you to find your own path in life."- said Norimasa Shimomura, UNDP Resident Representative in Kazakhstan.
Mr. Shimomura presented the participants with certificates and the trainers and teachers with letters of appreciation. The participants expressed deep gratitude to all the organizers of the camp.
