Airports’ disaster preparedness training and assessment program to be held for the first time in Kazakhstan

You are invited to attain GARD (Getting Airports Ready for Disaster) training - the internationally recognized disaster preparedness and assessment program that is conducted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Deutsche Post DHL Group. The 5-day training that was previously held in over 40 airports will be conducted at Almaty International Airport on September 18-22 for the first time in Kazakhstan.

Who will be there?  50+ officials from Almaty International Airport, the Committee of Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Agency of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Investments and Development, experts of Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction, UNDP, DHL and representatives of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Armenia and Bosnia and Hercegovina. Deputy-Minister of Internal Affairs Mr. Yuri Ilyin will attend the opening ceremony of the seminar.

What’s in the program?

·         Evaluation of the current level of preparedness of Almaty International Airport to disasters and emergency situations

·         Training and protocol exercises

·         Recommendations and development of the action plan for possible disasters

When? September 18-22. The media are invited to the opening ceremony on the 18th of September, at 10:30 a.m.
