Improving human rights protection mechanisms in Kazakhstan and facilitating effective implementation of UN Universal Periodic Review recommendations

Introduction

The aim of the project is to promote further implementation of human rights in Kazakhstan in accordance with international obligations and improve practical realization of the UN Universal Periodic Review recommendations.

Expected Results

  • Advancement of interagency coordination in the area of human rights policy ;
  • Technical and expert support to implementation of the National Action plan on UPR recommendations, with account of needs of vulnerable groups;
  • Recommendations on realization of Kazakhstan’s international
    commitments on human rights;
  • Promoting effective public monitoring of UPR recommendations and
    strengthening dialogue with civil society;
  • Raising capacity of state officials and members of the Parliament in human rights policy formulation and implementation;
  • Development of an electroni c database of Kazakhstan’s international
    commitments;
  • Legal education and propaganda.
